ECL Adjustments

Hello everyone,

if the new rules make it to the server ECL will play a bigger role. To balance that out we'll probably have to adjust ECL rules a little bit. KC suggested to set Yuan Ti as the strongest race to ECL 2 and set the other ones to 2 or below. I think that sounds like a pretty reasonable approach. Waht do you guys think? My Suggestion would be:

ECL +2:
[*] Yuan Ti
[*] Deep Gnome (moved to ECL 1 because of the reasons KC pointed out)

ECL +1:
[*] Drow
[*] Half Dragon
[*] Aasimar
[*] Tiefling
[*] Deep Gnome

ECL 0:
[*] All other races

Edit: I moved Deep Gnomes to ECL 1 like KC suggested. I think it makes a lot of sense because we are not really drowning in Deep Gnomes. I'll factor the suggested changes into the code in the hope that we can all agree on it. But even if not I can easily change it to something else.

Edit2: Genasis are no longer ECL 1 because their stat benefit is zero unlike Aasimars and Tieflings.

Overall seems fine.

Would put the Deep Gnome at +1 as their racial AC is subject to the +20 dodge cap.

Genasi at +0 as they have net +0 stats.

Aasimar and Tiefling at +1.

Hello
What are the reasons to change the current status quo on that ECL thing ?

Because the current ECL system simply doesn't work with the new reward logic. And the new reward logic is required because the old one won't work anymore if we roll out the CR recalculation code.

Could we get the race .tlk files updated to reflect the new ECL values?

So does this mean a yuan ti will have a greater or lesser chance of a reward than a 0 ecl character?

I think only XP and (maybe) GP are scaled by the relative CR of the killed enemy.

Item drops are based on the absolute CR.

So a YT will have less XP/Gold, but have the same chance of item drops.
