There is a gray area: haste, uncanny dodge, toughness, regular and improved evasion et al, are all class granted, but are also spells/forgeable. Where is the line drawn? Supreme Cleave, HIPS, and Piercing Cold, among others, are, to me, obviously in one camp. Is Uncanny Dodge in this camp since Paladins and Rangers can cast it?

Correct me if i'm wrong but I thought there were a couple of items in game that had HIPS....?

Just for clarity - I like the ideas below and have no clear preference.

A.+10 Spellcraft, +10 Preform, +10 Concentration, 10/- Positive
B. uncanny dodge
C. +12 CON, +10 Fort Save
D. immune to petrfication

*Ahem*

Isn't there a guild item that gives HIPS?

--EDIT-- Although, if we go with that logic, where does it ultimately lead? Next thing, we want more?

I like C, and maybe D, maybe.

There is. A Sanctuary quarterstaff, htus making it useful to a very limited amount of builds.
adam wrote:P.S.: Uncanny dodge is a class ability, but it is also a Ranger/Paladin spell, so I am not sure it could be disqualified for this reason.

It's a Ranger/Druid/SS spell at least. I don't know if Paladins get it too though. The name's Wild Instincts

Paladin gets it, I am just not sure what the name of the spell is.

DM forge guidelines are relatively new compared to the preexisting grandfathered items in game.

I hate to be a pain in the rear here Mort, But I can't find the document you're referring to, could you post a link or does the DM forge guidelines need to be private messaged?

In any case, uncanny dodge is off the table. I am still considering:

C. +12 CON, +10 Fort Save.

What do you think, Mort? Fort Save too high, or?

Anyone else object to this?

Fort save is way too high. Something like that wasn't a big deal before we removed the cap on saves but now it is way too much.

What would a reasonable bonus to fort save be? I'd like to get this set in stone and finished.
