Playing more than one computer behind same router?

* You'll have to be sure each machines client Port setting for each computer is set to a different value. * In the file nwnplayer.ini located in your game directory (“C:\Program Files\Atari\Neverwinter Nights 2\” by default). Double click on it to open it, and look for the Client Port= line in the section. Change this from the default value of 5120 on each machine. You have to stay in a certain range, so use numbers like 5121, 5122, 5123, etc. When this happens, your character can be used by any PC. If you are a player who sees a character that DOESN'T belong to you, DO NOT USE it. If you do, you will be penalized by a warning then banning. Not fixing this is going to cause you to lose your character. You have been warned.

I am going to start banning players today. Server had 6 ghost spots on today due to this and forced me to crash the server to get them to clear.

Logins in violation:

BuD
GnomeGrown
Oblivion462

All are coming in on the same IP address and are not following posted rules on playing multiple computers. You will be banned by end of day today if you do not fix your settings.

Brian, just wanted to let you know that Bud Dank was logged in under my player name tonight and my toon got bugged. We located him in the Cloak Tower and killed and rezed him like 15 times to get the point across that this is not ok. The GBL are not into using these types of Guerrilla tactics, but he ruined my whole night as any time I logged into a new area all my gear disappeared and modes were empty. I had to quit for the night. Aurora got on the server and tried to help the situation. Gnomegrown also was doing this, apparently unintentionally - ghosting the dm's player name. Just wanted to put it out there. If it happens again, we are not above martial law! GBL = Ghost Busta's Legion!!!

Noted and passed on to the powers that be. Sorry about your experience tonight. Hang in there.

Same problem here.
Made a new toon and the second time I logged in, Somehow I got linked with GnomecrownBuD. After relogging a few times situation returned to normal.
Also during this period I got mentions for level up when I was a few k XP short of leveling (was Gnomecrown leveling, I honestly don't know).

As a Side note: made the new toon ILR exempt and everytime I logged on it's equipment is de-equiped.

Is there no way to build an autoboot player feature which checks for ports and IPs and autoboots you if you are sharing and causing problems.

I can only do a check on IP, not port. If I wanted to screw every set of players who legit. wants to play behind a router, sure, that would be fine. Very dumb bug from Obsidian in the end.

See the file I attached. Whatever this guy is doing suddenly I was listed as Green BuD even though I was playing Glyn at the time.

OH, I know its a cluster F on the server when that happens. Nothing I can do other than ban the offenders. I am going to lock all acounts other than 1 until we can work out the details.

I'm rebooting the server. Have to clear the ghosted logins.
It will be up in 10 minutes or do after I finish maintenance

Thanks to Brian and the_rogued_rogue for dealing with this pain in the butt. I hate sounding like a whiner on the forum. Anyways, I appreciate the extra effort and the headache that you guys are having to deal with.

Thanks, man! It does get old sometimes. :0

Just to add insult to injury we just were attacked via Denial of Services on the NWN2 game port a few times. I always love that one. I ban the IP address from hitting the server, but they just change it. Hackers, gotta love em.
