Realms of Trinity has now formed a PW alliance with The Rise of Sauron ( TRS ) NWN2 PW, and as such, I have provided the TRS head, The Witch King with alot of our custom database systems, such as the Dynamic Spawning Engine (or commonly known as the SSR), Persistent Journal, Wish Shards, Banking, Item Storage, Dynamic Sign Post Updates, and much more. In return, the Witch King has provided us with well over 300 areas, over 100 of which aren't currently in use on his server.
Why do I bring this up? Well, we are about to embark on our first dual PW project. Since they will be using our infrastructure now, anything I develop will be easily portable with their PW and ours. The Witch King and I are specking out a totally brand new RP reward system that will be database driven and highly configurable and maintained and managed by our proprietary NWN2 PW Administration Application. I will be developing the system from the specifications that we are working on.
Our goal is to create a very intelligent and powerful RP system that allows fair XP bonuses for in game RP. Not one that will be easily susceptible to simple copy and paste spammings using the client extender, etc. I feel that this is something that is sorely missing in both of our PWs and will go a long way to encourage Role Play on the server. edited by bbloom on 2/16/2012

I'm mightily pleased to read this. There have been a number of occasions in which my character has engaged another character in a fairly intense role-playing discussion about matters of theology, theological philosophy, and the role of humanoids in the cosmos. While these encounters were enjoyable in and of themselves, I'm glad to read that in the future, players who engage in role-playing will gather some tangible rewards for it. Thanks for your continued effort to improve Realms of Trinity.

Status Update:
The first piece of the RP Award system has been completed. The first part entailed me creating a system where XP adjustments ( + or - ) can be queued up for your character and while you are in game they would be dished out every 10 minutes. The engine will queue up these updates as the RP chat parser engine determines your rewards or penalties ( details yet to come on that process ). At the same time, I had to add a new panel to the character view in our proprietary administration tool to be able to review all processed and queued adjustments, and even added the ability to add manual adjustments from the admin tool. This will allow me to dish out XP modifications for situations that may come up where you lose XP from a crash or something and I won't have to be in game to help you out. All, in all a great new addition for the ROT set of tools.
The Witch King ( Creator of the Third Age, The Rise of Sauron NWN2 PW ) and I are still hashing out the technical details of the RP reward engine. It is highly configurable and will be shared between our two PWs.

Basic Details of the New RP Reward System: In effect on 2/13/2012.
To enable RP award processing for your PC, you must be in RP Mode. ONLY local, whispers, and party chats will be processed. To turn on RP mode, you must use your AFK/PVP/RP toggler widget and select RP Mode from the conversation.
Every hour the system will scan your text for good keywords and bad keywords. Any line of chat that has at least 1 good key word will be given a bonus of 10xp-50xp ( randomly generated ). If a line of chat contains more than 1 good keyword, the benefit will stack up to 5 keywords.
If a line of RP chat contains a bad key word, such as profanity, metagaming terms, certain slang, or generally anything that doesn't belong in RP, you will receive a 50xp penalty and it will stack for each instance. The use of //, OOC, will not allow the penalty to be skipped. If you must speak OOC, use tells or turn RP mode off.
Once your benefits have been processed, they will be queued up to our in-game XP adjustment system. Every 10 minutes, the server will check if there are any bonuses or penalties for you and apply them to your character. It is totally seamless. You will be given a message with the XP bonus value in your combat log window as they are applied.
There is a max amount of XP per day and per hour you can receive in this manner, it is currently set for 750xp per hour and 5000xp per 24 hours. It is a sliding window from the current processing window.
The XP ranges, and other details listed above are totally configurable real time, and probably will change after seeing the system in action for about a week.
I have used actual in-game chats to tweak the initial configuration and it is already looking great! edited by bbloom on 2/12/2012
