Since I've seen many people ask questions about building, I thought that it would be nice to have a thread with builds from experienced players with good solid notes to start the RoT experience right. I don't consider myself an experienced player, but I do think that I'm a good builder and that I've had decent enough experience with some classes to give good advice. There are a lot of builds out there, so lets bring a bit of diversity to the server. Here's my contribution for now, I will expand my notes on other builds that I have tried.

CotW for a Friend is a CotW that aims to solo, its a variation of my toon Eowariel. Mahe used this build plan for RAZOR and seems to do quite well: link

I decided to "bump" this as no one seems to be joining in on this. I'll keep posting more builds that I test though, but I'd greatly appreciate some help with some of the stuff that I haven't tried yet. Namely, pure caster. Very hard to level from what I've heard. For the time being, here's another build post. This one's a bard that hits(lol): link

Some High DC build discussion

High DC sorcerer discussion

The biggest draw back for mages is there power curve. I should make it clear that mages are the most powerful class on RoT if played to their DC niche. I should also point out that they are the worst character you could imagine playing if they are faced with foes immune to their respective focus.

The general idea is to take the most focus in a particular school possible, to focus on one type of attack. So, Death magic for save vs. death. Or Enchant for save vs mind effects. Or transmutation for save vs. stone effects.

As long as you realize going into a mage build that you’re a one-shot glass-cannon, then you’re good. If you choose to go with a diverse generalist then you need to realize that your respective DC in end game will probably not be high enough to regularly land a kill or desired effect.

I have noticed this with my implosion build: it is useful against certain types of critters, but others are immune or have immense fort-saves (highest DC I will reach at ER4: 47 (no fiendish line). Banishment has some benefits in Hell, but most critters make their saves. For undeath to death my DC isn't high enough.

My back-up (ehm main) mode of damage is my bow: zen archery. My spells are a useful tool.

I have even been thinking of taking animal domain for the dino (just to block critters a few rounds), but I think it will get it's butt kicked in hell.
