ROT2 Chapter 7 has been released! It is still considered beta, IE. No drops or gold yet. Otherwise it is fully released. You may start it by using the world map and selecting chapter 7 - The Spent Plane. NOTE! IT IS A PARTY PORT. Make sure you are partied before entering. It is clearly marked, just pointing it out.

New Bonus XP system is in!

Kill anything CR 26 or higher ( around Atlantis/Bloodsands and up.) and if you are non-ER, you get 100 additional XP, ER1 75xp, and ER2 50xp. It uses your current XP to determine the bonus. So you wont be able to sit on ERs to get more xp than you deserve.

We have added gold for kills in chapter 7 and will be adding the drops in a couple of days. I have a few more VFX tweaks to do to assist folks with less powerful graphics cards, as well.

Other than that, the chapter is just about bug free at this point. Mechanically, it's perfect and just have to expire the ship fire on the good path.

The difficulty is definitely lower than chapter 5, and I am inclined to keep it that way due to the **** poor player participation lately, as it will be harder to get a group to go through.

Glad to hear the chap is complete and sorry to hear the population has dwindled. Where you all at? I know I wish I could be on atm but lousy internet in the middle east keeps me from being on. Hopefully things will change for the better.

Totally, understand man. That's alot of copper to go over to get to ROT HQ. LOL

NWN2 in itself has collapsed since the Bioware authentication server shat the bed. If you don't hack your hosts file on your windows rig, you are looking at a 20 second wait for it to time out. Also, alot of servers are wide open to account impersonation and issues where players use different case login names and the servers coding doesn't take that into account (because it never had to with the Bioware authentication) and f's things all up.

I'm confident we provided a great NWN2 world that had a great story and atmosphere and gave a ton options to the players. We made every stride to balance the server statistically with our database mob reporting and all that jazz, and definitively has turned out great. Can you play every character type, no. But you can't do that on any server, and alot of character classes are not even available, not to mention the PRC content. If that is not enough to hold players on ROT, then I don't know what is. As for RP, the server is an action story driven adventure, very much like the single player original campaign. It is wide open for RP, with alot of RP areas and guilds that we NEVER got credit or appreciation for building into the world. We have had DMs on staff to run RP events, and for the most part they never went all that well.

So, in the end I am at a loss on the dwindling numbers, but I am sure alot of it has to do with a shrinking community. I have been in talks with several other NWN2 PW runners where they are seeing the same thing and are planning on shutting down next year.

I sincerely hoped that us taking over the NWN Podcast and helping all community content, not just ROT, would help. Even took it on the road and tried to get interest up on the product, and seen no results. I guess it is just NWN2's time to go.

Yeah its been along run for sure for NWN2 and it still is a great server. Didn't know about the bioware thing since can't really get on from here anyways. Maybe oneday some company will get smart and just make a D & D world builder for people to run campaigns etc on and keep it up to date. Unfortunately I think bioware has interests in other areas now with dragon age so the whole D & D thing needs to find another company to take up the mantle.

Totally agree. I wish we could get a NWN2 Engine that was 64 bit / multi-core and the stupid bugs were hammered out with the classes and core functionality. Would make things alot better and more appealing for developers to make the jump.

I think a lot of the problem is that NWN2 is an older game and can not compete with all the new free MMO's coming out today. They offer cutting edge graphics and no subscriptions and you can download the games for free. They make their money on in game stores. The Honor Guard is a multi - gaming guild with over 300 members and I have tried to bring as many as I could to this server to play but the main barrier is they don't want to pay for the game when they have a list of other games they can download and play for free.

I am currently beta testing the new Star Wars MMO, so my time on here of late has been less. But I will for sure be hitting the new Chapter 7 content hard soon. The Honor Guard will remain on the server until the last day, thanks for giving us a place to play D&D.

Item drops are being reviewed now and will be added by tomorrow. At that point the chapter will be considered rolled out and tight.
