So I was lucky enough to get my hands on the powerful Echoblade and I decided to make a toon just for it. I'm not entirely sure how it works but I was told that the damage it deals is based on the power of your inspirations. Does this mean song of the heart will boost my damage? I also would like some advice on the plan I've made of it so far: link.
Thanks for the help in advance. Jony

It is based on your bardic music level.
Bard, Dissonant Chord, and Canaith Lyrist all help that.
Other than that, I didn't really look at the build much, I am on my way to bed.

I also have an Echoblade.
I would really like to know exactly what it does. Anything I've ever heard about it is ambiguous at best. I'm a little OCD when planning out a build and stepping wildly into the darkness on a quest for 5 million XP generally requires that I know it will be worth it when all is said and done.
Thanks!

For maximum damage output, I'd say a cleric/canaith/stormsinger would be good. Divine power is key to get a high AB. From what JB told me, the damage output increases as your bardic inspirations increase. But Jastin is a DM so I'll take his word for it. I went for more bard since they have mirror and displacement thus I won't have to entirely rely on AC. Because STRers tend to have a low AC. Which means dying less :P
Hope this clears things out Jony
Edit: I'd like to know what actually activates the Echoblade. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I tried a couple of things but nothing seems to reactivate it once its "turned off". edited by jonyboulder on 9/18/2011

You have to be "singing" for it to work. You must have an active inspiration.

Also, from what I've been able to understand, the damage is sonic = to 1/2 of your bardic music. So the highest you could ever get is 10? Or would it be more with the extra music feat? And for those that don't know, there is a problem with the Echoblade. Or at least, I've been experiencing some problems and Jastin is working on it. Might be due to the Kaedrin classes that I'm using on my toon.

It is your bardic music level / 2. A level 30 bard would do 15 damage.

Afaik, you can't have more than 20 uses of songs per day unless you take extra music. So the highest is +10 sonic damage.

It is not based on uses. It is based on your bard music level. Base bard would be 30. Some of the PRC classes advance bard music and would count, some do not.

I tested the sword but it didn't do extra damage on hit. I had an active inspiration while wielding the blade. My toon's bard music level is 27. edited by ganja on 9/30/2011

Do you have any levels of canaith lyrist? Its one of the possible culprits afaik.

No, but I have Dissonant Chord. Perhaps it is a culprit, too?

Its possible that the new Kaedrin PrCs are the cause of this. If anyone has a pure bard(no Kaedrin PrCs), it would be great if they could let us know if the blade is working or not for them.
