Found this on another Forum:

The Joy Of NWN2 Authorization Server Failure Messages

To skip the highly annoying delay, waiting for the authorization server to tell inform you it is down.

Open up C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc

Make sure to open the "hosts" file not anything else or other hosts.name files in Notepad (Maybe open notepad as administrator for some OSes).

Add the following lines to the bottom of the page:

0.0.0.0 nw2master.bioware.com
0.0.0.0 nwn2.master.gamespy.com

Worth backing up the hosts file in case.

Box still appears but no wait click it closed and continue.

Works perfect. Just did it myself. You have to click the ok still, but it pops immediately instead of that nasty 30 second or so timeout delay!

got an error when I tried to save. Couldn't find the file. I'm running Vista 64. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I don't have a hosts file in sysWOW64 (which I think is the correlating file for system32). Got any ideas?

It should still be under C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Even in 64bit windows OS.
