This is a work in progress, but its somewhat adapted from a tabletop character I play. (I will accept any ties or hooks that other players may propose, even DMs with ideas if it interests you.)
Both of Van Reinhardt's parents died and he was raised by friends. Van feared his parents as they were brutal tyrants as rulers of House Extaminos . Van is the youngest member of a small family (four children) who look(s) at him as their protector and provider. Van's family are refugees forced to flee their home due to war. He arrived in Hulburg with his family and was initially treated...Well, truthfully, the family is viewed with suspicion. Van has a small group (about five people) who consider him an enemy who want to capture and torture him before killing him. Luckily, though, Van had also has earned the respect of a local guild-like organization and allies who watch over his friends and family for him. As for companions, Van has a lover who is clever and skilled/trained, but he has not seen her in many cycles, since he left Hulburg and came south across the Moonsea to Sembia.
Important Events
Van made an enemy of a dragon during his travels, he managed to defeat its minions with the help of the local militia; when they raided the town.. thwarting one of its plans, the dragon has decided that Van must die. Van had stepped down from a position of authority over others back in Hlondeth in the Vilhon Reach. He was in line for the throne, after his brother; but due to the circumstances and his elder brother's involvement with the Cult of the dragon he left with some of his family when the coup happened. He may be very reluctant to accept the role of leader, even among his closest friends.
Van's religious faith was tested when he discovered high levels of corruption in a church organization. After speaking out against the wrongdoers, he found himself ostracized and forced to leave the area. Van now doubts the integrity of any organized religion or its followers. While he still silently reveres The Reaver, he keeps it to himself and likes to think of himself as a living extension of his skill at arms.
